Trinity Comprehensive Treatment Solutions
In the summer of 2001, I attended a Christian youth conference in St. Louis, MO. While there, a gentleman facilitated a seminar about a ministry that he started to assist men and women struggling with substance abuse issues. He passionately spoke about his love for the work that he was doing as a substance abuse professional and ordained minister. At the time, I was taking classes and pursuing my certification as a substance abuse professional, and this man's passion ignited something in me. I went back to my hotel room and started to write out my vision for my own program. I knew it would be Trinity to represent not only my religious beliefs, but also to symbolize the complexity of the human being - mind, body, and spirit. It took another 7 years before I had the courage to file the paperwork necessary to form the organization officially. When I did, the only name available was Trinity Comprehensive Treatment Solutions. Initially, I thought that the name was too long and complicated so I shortened it to TCTS. Life happened, and another 7 years passed before I would even think about the organization or the original passion that sparked it in the first place.
Towards the end of 2014, I read an article about a problem in my community that shook me back into action. There were women in my local community who did not have the means to purchase feminine hygiene products. Something seemingly so small and insignificant that I often took for granted could be a huge help to a woman in need. Immediately, I went out and purchased some items to donate, but I thought, "I could do more." I had an idea to throw a party and have other women join this cause. I told one person about my idea and she IMMEDIATELY sprung into action. When I got cold feet, she told other women to help keep me accountable. In March of 2015, I finally made some calls and started to plan for the 'Free To Be Women's Empowerment Breakfast'.
It's now pretty evident to me why the name is so long and so ...complex. There is a bigger plan for me and for this organization. It's not just about substance abuse counseling. This is an organization that was created to provide a comprehensive array of services to help folks in need. I don't know where TCTS will be in the next seven years, but I'm hoping that this time, with your help, we can keep it going so that we can keep helping people to achieve major transformation in their lives.
